A woman died after being airlifted to a Twin Cities hospital following a report to police of a possible drowning in a hotel bathtub.

The Pine County Sheriff's Office says it was called to possible drowning at the America's Best Hotel in Hinckley at 10:44 p.m. on Saturday, and arrived at the scene to find a woman in her 50s unresponsive.

Lifesaving measures were carried out and the woman was airlifted, but she later died at the hospital.

"A person accompanying the woman indicated she had been consuming alcohol before the incident and it is unclear at this time if she suffered a medical condition while in the tub," the Pine County Sheriff's Office said.

The woman has not yet been identified, but the sheriff's office says she is from Wisconsin.

Her cause of death will be determined by a medical examiner following an autopsy.
