An investigation is ongoing after a woman died in a rollover ATV crash in northern Minnesota Sunday night.

According to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened around 9:20 p.m. on the 3200 block of Randa Road on the north side of Lake Vermillion. First responders arrived and found the woman on a gravel road next to an overturned ATV.

Local residents were first on the scene and attempting to help the woman, but despite lifesaving efforts the 53-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.

The sheriff's office said the Duluth woman was driving the ATV southbound on the gravel road when "the ATV suddenly swerved to the right, causing the ATV to roll several times and ejecting the driver."

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The woman's full identity has not been released.
