Woman fatally shot in St. Paul, no arrests

It's the city's 23rd homicide this year.

A woman was fatally shot in St. Paul early Thursday morning, and now police are looking for the suspect. 

A 911 caller reported shots fired on the 800 block of Cook Avenue East on St. Paul's East Side around 3:30 a.m. 

When police arrived, they found a woman lying in the street with a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The woman's identity will be released by the Ramsey County medical examiner. 

Officers searched the area and the Canine Unit attempted to track the suspect, meanwhile a forensic team will process the scene for evidence Thursday morning, police said. 

No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call 651-266-5650.

This is the 23rd homicide this year in St. Paul. In 2019, there were 30 homicides in the city, crime data show.
