Woman fatally shot in West St. Paul, 21-year-old arrested

A woman was fatally shot as police were arriving to the scene of a reported domestic disturbance Friday night in West St. Paul. 

The city's police department said officers "heard a gunshot outside the apartment building" on the 2000 block of Christensen Ave. around 9:30 p.m. A woman was found in the parking lot, having been fatally shot in the head. 

Officers "immediately encountered the suspect and he was taken into custody," West St. Paul PD said in a release. The woman died at the scene and a gun was recovered. 

The suspect, a 21-year-old man, has been booked into the Dakota County Jail on probable cause 2nd-degree murder. Formal charges have not yet been filed. 

The victim's identity has not been released.
