Police in St. Paul are investigating the 7th homicide in the city this year, after a woman was found dead at a home in the North End on Sunday.

Officers were initially called to the townhome on the 1500 block of Jackson Street at 2 p.m. Sunday on a report of an overdose.

But when they arrived, police were led to the basement, where they found the woman already dead and showing signs of being assaulted.

Her death was later confirmed as a homicide by a medical examiner.

Multiple people who were in the house when medics and officers arrived have been interviewed, but no arrests have been made, with police saying they are "searching for the person or people responsible for her death."

A release from St. Paul Police Department said they don't believe her death was random. Her identity has not yet been released.

Anyone with information should call police at 651-266-5650.
