Woman found dead in Woodbury home, police hunt for suspect

Several children were found in the home and taken to safety.

Police are hunting a suspect wanted for the killing of a woman whose body was found in a Woodbury home Friday afternoon, with several children also taken to safety from the residence.

A woman called 911 at 3:42 p.m. Friday saying she'd received a call from a male who said he'd killed the woman at the home in the 7500 block of Steepleview Road.

The caller also told police there were likely several children at the property, according to a release by Woodbury Public Safety.

A police and SWAT response to the home saw several children "of varying ages" exit the house when asked, with the kids telling police the suspect had left earlier in the day and that they believed the victim had left with him.

However, SWAT teams entered the house and found the woman dead inside, having suffered from fatal stab wounds.

The children, who are being cared for at a safe location, were not aware the woman was dead inside the house.

Police say the suspect is known to officers, who are "actively on the hunt" for him.
