The woman found dead near the site of an apparent car wreck in Carver County this past week has been identified.

Investigating a report of a motor vehicle accident in Laketown Township on Monday, local sheriff's deputies discovered the car off the roadway and found the woman's body outside the car, a news release says

Authorities have identified her as 46-year-old Chaska resident Amy Bridget DeBower, Chanhassen Villager reports.

The paper says the extreme cold that slammed Minnesota last week is believed to have been a factor DeBower's death, though the investigation is still in its preliminary stages.

How her car may have wrecked and ended up off the road is still not clear.

According to KSTP, her family released a statement saying they are "deeply grieving the loss of Amy, a cherished and passionate woman who impacted all she met."

The statement says she is survived by a daughter, two sisters, and her mother and father.
