Woman gravely injured after car is shot at, crashes into tree

A woman is in a grave condition at Hennepin County Medical Center after a car she was traveling in was shot at, before crashing into a tree in Minneapolis.

The incident was reported at 11:25 p.m. Monday near Cedar Avenue South and 38th Street, with preliminary information indicating a man and woman were in a vehicle that was shot at by an unknown person or persons.

"The female was struck, and the vehicle crashed into a tree," Minneapolis PD said, saying the suspect fled prior to police arriving.

Investigators have been canvassing the area for information, and are appealing for members of the public to come forward.
