Woman hit and killed by Green Line train in St. Paul

The fatal accident happened just after 3 p.m. Friday.

Green Line trains were halted for about an hour Friday afternoon when a pedestrian was fatally struck in St. Paul. 

Authorities say the incident happened just after 3 p.m. at the Dale Street Station. The victim, only identified at this point as a woman, was walking in a crosswalk north on University Ave. when she was struck by a westbound Green Line train. 

Metro Transit police believe warning lights and bells were operational at the time of the accident. 

No other details are available as an investigation into the deadly accident continues.
