Woman in 20s found dead during welfare check, ruled homicide

It has been confirmed as the 23rd homicide in Minneapolis of 2021.

Police have now ruled the woman's death a homicide, the 23rd in the city so far in 2021. MPD spokesperson John Elder confirmed that a suspect – a man in his 20s – was placed under arrest in another state.

Police in Minneapolis are investigating the suspicious death of a woman in her 20s.

The woman, aged "about 20," was found by officers responding to a welfare check just after 12:30 p.m. Friday in the 3000 block of 18th Avenue South.

The statement from Minneapolis Police Department says the woman was "obviously deceased" and that evidence at the scene "officers to believe that the death may be unnatural."

A suspicious death investigation has been launched as a result, with the woman's identity expected to be released in the coming days.
