A woman was killed in a hit-and-run collision in south Minneapolis early Saturday morning.
MPD says the incident was reported at 1:22 a.m. in the area of Bloomington Avenue and East Lake Street.
Responders arrived to find a woman believed to be in her 40s unconscious with no pulse or breathing. She was pronounced dead at the scene despite lifesaving efforts.
Investigators say that a possibly dark colored sedan was southbound on Bloomington when it struck the woman before fleeing the scene.
Police say this is the 16th "vehicle related" death in 2021 in Minneapolis, compared to 12 at the scene time last year.
