Woman in her 50s dies after being found unconscious in Minneapolis

A woman in her 50s died in a hospital shortly after being found unconscious in North Minneapolis.

Police say the circumstances of the woman's death appear suspicious, with officers finding her after being called to the 3300 block of Sheridan Avenue North at 9:21 a.m. Tuesday.

She was taken to North Memorial Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Few details as to her injuries have been released, but Minneapolis Police Department say a homicide team has been assigned to the case.

The woman is expected to be identified in the coming days by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.
