Woman killed after being struck by car near Grand Rapids
A female pedestrian has died in northern Minnesota after being struck by a car.
The Minnesota State Patrol says the collision happened at 10:10 p.m. on Hwy. 169 at Laplant Road, south of Grand Rapids in Itasca County.
A Chevy Impala heading south on Hwy. 169 struck a pedestrian in the roadway.
She has been identified as Wanda Meinhardt, a 63-year-old resident of Grand Rapids.
The driver of the Impala, a 22-year-old man from Crosby, was wearing a seat belt and was uninjured. Police say that alcohol is not a factor in the crash.
Meinhardt was pronounced dead at the scene.
