Woman killed after car swerves to avoid deer, hits tree in northern Minnesota
A passenger was killed in northern Minnesota when a driver swerved to avoid a deer in the road, and crashed into a tree.
The accident happened on the 12000 block of East Road in Side Lake on Thursday, with responders arriving to find the male driver and female passenger with serious injuries.
The woman was taken to Fairview University Medical Center-Mesabi in Hibbing, where she later died.
Her cause of death is under investigation to determine if it's the result of her injuries or a non-related medical condition.
Deputies determined that the car had swerved to avoid a deer, leaving the road and hitting a tree.
The identities of the victims have not yet been released, pending family notification.
