A woman died at the scene of a shooting and a man was transported to North Memorial Medical Center where he is in critical condition Monday night.
According to Minneapolis police, numerous 911 callers reported a shooting at 6:28 p.m. on the 700 block of West Broadway Avenue in north Minneapolis.
Officers arrived at the location and found a woman believed to be in her 30s dead at the scene. While police were en route to the shooting scene they were informed that the man who was shot was loaded into a vehicle and was on the way to a hospital.
Police advised area hospitals that a shooting victim could be arriving shortly, and the man was brought to North Memorial. Police were told by hospital officials that the man was in critical condition.
"Preliminary investigation indicates a male party shot the two victims and fled the area on foot before officers arrived," MPD says. "Homicide detective are on the scene attempting to ascertain what lead up to the shooting."
