A woman who pleaded guilty to aiding in the killing of Anarae Schunk was sentenced to 15 years in prison Tuesday.

Ashley M. Conrade, of Rosemount, pleaded guilty to charges of aiding an offender, and agreed to testify against her co-defendant and former boyfriend Shavelle Chavez-Nelson – in exchange, she avoided first- and second-degree murder charges, according to earlier reports.

Both were charged in connection with the death of Schunk, a 20-year-old who went missing in September 2013, as well as the killing of 23 year-old Palagor Jobi.

Dakota County gave Conrade, 26, the 15-year sentence in Schunk’s death and a concurrent one-year sentence in Jobi’s death, says the Pioneer Press.

Chavez-Nelson is already serving life in prison for fatally shooting Jobi in the parking lot of Nina’s Bar & Grill in Burnsville in September 2013. Last month, he also pleaded guilty to second-degree unintentional murder in connection with Schunk's death.

Schunk, an ex-girlfriend of Chavez-Nelson and University of Minnesota student, met Chavez-Nelson at the bar to recover thousands of dollars that she had loaned him, according to the charges. She was with them when Jobi was fatally shot, then the three returned to Conrade’s house in Rosemount, where Schunk was stabbed 22 times with a kitchen knife, the criminal complaint says. Her body was found in a roadside ditch eight days later.

The hearing was part of a pilot program with cameras the first time TV cameras had been allowed into a criminal hearing in Dakota County, reported the Star Tribune.
