Woman shot and killed in parking lot in Brooklyn Park

The shooting happened around 4:20 p.m. Wednesday.

A woman is dead and a suspect is in custody following a shooting in Brooklyn Park. 

According to Brooklyn Park Police Department, officers were flagged sown by a group of people in the 5800 block of Brookdale Drive at 4:20 p.m. Wednesday, and the group directed the officers to a woman who'd been shot. 

The woman was unresponsive and died after being transported to a local hospital. 

Witnesses told police that the woman was talking to a man in a parking lot when she was shot. 

Investigators were able to identify a male suspect, who was located and arrested before being booked into the Brooklyn Park Jail. 

KSTP reports that the shooting happened in a retail parking lot, although details beyond that haven't been reported. 

An investigation is ongoing and no further information is available.
