A woman is dead following a stabbing in Minneapolis' theater district.

The incident was reported at 9:34 p.m. on the 800 block of Hennepin Ave., a busy block that's home to the State Theater, the Brave New Workshop, and bars and restaurants including Crave, The Saloon and the Capital Grille.

Responders treated her at the scene before she was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center, where she died shortly after arrival.

The scene of the incident was processed by the Minneapolis Crime Lab and evidence was recovered, in addition to investigators speaking with "several people," a release from the department says.

A police spokeswoman told the Star Tribune the stabbing happened "after an argument with acquaintances."

The stabbing victim's identity and official cause of death will be announced at a later date by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office.

Anyone with information that could lead to an arrest is asked to contact Crime Stoppers of Minnesota. Tips can be submitted anonymously and may be eligible for a financial reward.
