Woman's body found in north Minneapolis, death investigation underway

The woman's body was found around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Minneapolis police are investigating after a woman's body was found in north Minneapolis on Tuesday.

According to Minneapolis PD spokesperson John Elder, a dead body was found behind a residence on the 3500 block of Dupont Ave. N. at around 5:30 p.m.

Responding officers arrived and found the woman's body, with her identity cause of death to be released at a later date by a medical examiner.

The Star Tribune reports family have identified the woman as Amber Hopkins, a 31-year-old who went missing in January. A Facebook post from a woman who say she is Hopkins' aunt says, in part, " I guess it's true the good always die young."

A investigation is in progress and the Minneapolis Crime Lab processed the scene, in addition to patrol officers canvassing the area and conducting interviews.

Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or offer tips online via the CrimeStoppersMN website. Information that leads to an arrest and conviction may be eligible for a financial reward.
