Women rescued when inflatable raft drifts away on Lake Superior
Two women had to be rescued from Lake Superior after being blown half a mile from shore.
The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office says responders were called to Park Point in Duluth around 2:30 p.m. Saturday after a report that two people on the lake weren't able to get back to shore.
The fire department and Coast Guard were able to reach them and brought them to shore.
They told authorities that they'd been floating near the beach in their inflatable raft when they drifted thanks to the wind and currents.
The women, aged 18 and 19, weren't injured in the incident, which prompted the sheriff's office to warn lake users to be aware that conditions can change rapidly."
