Worker at MSP Airport accused of stealing more than 700 items from luggage

A TSA agent at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport is accused of pilfering hundreds of belongings from traveler luggage valued at an estimated $85,000 over several months, FOX 9 reports.

David Yang, 23, has been charged with 11 felony counts, and he was arrested Friday when investigators say he attempted to steal a wedding ring, FOX reported.

Yang's job was to maintain the baggage belt system that carries luggage, an airport spokesman said. Court documents say that Yang tried to cover his tracks by stealing from luggage on connecting flights, which made it more difficult to figure out where the thefts were occurring, FOX reported.

In Yang's apartment, investigators discovered more than 700 items they believe were stolen from luggage, including iPads, laptops, expensive watches and jewelry, sporting goods – and 10 guns reported missing from August to October last year. Airport police installed a closed-circuit TV to capture video of Yang, FOX reports.
