A 37-year-old Minnesota was killed while working when equipment he was using made contact with a power line in Olmsted County.

According to the Olmsted County Sheriff's Department, Anthony J. Streed, of Rochester, was electrocuted Thursday morning while doing mechanical work at Duke Aerial Equipment, located at 601 Barbaree Lane SE in Byron.

The sheriff's report says Streed was inspecting an aerial lift when the equipment touched a live power line around 7 a.m.

“It appears that Streed raised the lift platform to perform a final inspection on the lift unit prior to the unit being rented,” Sheriff Scott Behrns said.

First responders had to wait for the power to be cut before lowering the machine and checking on Streed, who was pronounced dead at the scene. First responders at the scene informed the sheriff's office that "it was over quickly."

No further information has been released.
