World of Beer opens its first bar in MN, with more than 500 different beers

Now there's another place for Minnesotans to taste craft beer.

World of Beer – a craft beer bar chain that operates in 22 states – opened its first Minnesota location in the Lowertown neighborhood of St. Paul on Monday.

The tavern features more than 50 rotating taps (including some local favorites) and 500 bottles of beer from around the world, as well as locally and regionally distilled craft spirits. You can check out World of Beer's extensive selection on its website here.

The Pioneer Press reports World of Beer has a cask engine and an infusion tower so it can infuse beer with different herbs, fruits or coffee.

On the menu, there's "elevated pub grub," according to the Pioneer Press, like burgers, an artisan cheese board, flatbread pizzas and other entrees.

World of Beer is the latest national chain to open a craft beer bar in the Twin Cities in recent years. Yard House, which features more than 100 beers on tap, opened in St. Louis Park's West End back in 2014, and City Works, which has 90 beers on tap, opened in downtown Minneapolis earlier this year.

Then there are the craft beer bar staples like the Happy Gnome and Republic, which were both recently named among the best beer bars in the country – again.

The Growler reported earlier on all these national craft beer bar chains coming to the Twin Cities and how that could affect local establishments. The publication spoke with some local craft beer bar owners, who said these big bars may take a little business from them, but overall it's part of the evolution of the ever-changing craft beer scene.

But it's not a perfect pour for everyone. The Community Keg House in northeast Minneapolis said last week it was looking for a buyer to take over, but gave no reason as to why the taproom decided to close after only six months.
