A 22-year-old driver was found dead inside his truck in a river near Gull Lake in northern Minnesota.
The Chevy Silverado was found on its roof in the river in the city of East Gull Lake just before 6 a.m. on Thursday, the Cass County Sheriff's Office said.
Inside was the driver, a man from Brainerd, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The initial police investigation suggests that the Chevy was traveling west on Gull Lake Dam Road and went straight through the intersection with Gull Lake Lane, flipping into the Gull River.
The identity of the driver has not yet been released.
The sheriff's office says that in the past 17 years there have only been two serious accidents at this intersection.
Both have happened in the past month, and both have been fatal.
As a result, the sheriff's office is working with local county and city officials to install safety barriers at the three-way intersection to prevent drivers from leaving the road.
