Young woman from Lakeville killed in crash on slippery road

It was snowing at the time of the crash.

A 23-year-old Lakeville woman has died following a crash on slick roads on Wednesday. 

According Lakeville Police Department, Hannah Elizabeth Almany was driving 2001 Honda Accord southbound on County Road 50 near Jaguar Avenue when she lost control, crossed the median and was broadsided by a 2016 Buick Encore. 

Almany was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where she died early Thursday morning. 

A 40-year-old woman from Savage and her 11-year-old son were in the Buick Encore. Both suffered minor injuries and were treated at an area hospital.

The crash happened at 3:14 p.m. and snow had made roads slippery.

With more snow in the forecast this weekend, Lakeville police are asking parents to talk to young drivers about how to drive on winter roads: "All drivers need to slow down, be patient and buckle up on slippery roads."
