Young women injured in rock fall, cliff jumping incidents at Quarry Park

The Waite Park swimming quarry was a popular destination on 4th of July weekend.

Two young women were injured in separate incidents at the Quarry Park swimming area in Waite Park over 4th of July weekend.

The incidents both happened at Quarry #2 within hours of each other on Friday, and both women required treatment at St. Cloud Hospital as a result.

The first incident at 12:44 p.m. saw 20-year-old Alexis Hennen, of Prior Lake, fall from the rocks.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says she suffered a laceration to the back of her head, a cut to her left heel, and a suspected sprained ankle.

She was given First Aid at the scene before a Mayo Ambulance took her to St. Cloud Hospital for further treatment.

The second incident happened around 3:10 p.m., where 23-year-old Michaella Huffman was cliff jumping when another person landed on her head in the water.

She was pulled unconscious onto nearby rocks by two of her friends, and regained conscious before she was pulled from the water, though she complained of neck and back pain.

Huffman was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

This incident came just a month after a teenager was killed in southeastern Minnesota when they were struck by someone jumping off a cliff into a lake.
