10 Years Since The Playoffs: January 14

This is pretty straight forward Wolves faithful.

We don’t remember what it’s like to be a part of the NBA playoffs anymore, so in this continuing series, we’ll live vicariously through the 2003-04 Minnesota Timberwolves, most likely once a week.

In our first installment of 2014, the Wolves began their 10-game season series with the Los Angeles Lakers by beating the former Minnesota franchise 106-90.

This week, the Wolves pick up a rare road win against one of the NBA's best.

MINNESOTA 100, SAN ANTONIO 93: The Tim Duncan vs. Kevin Garnett matchup often went to the way of the Spurs power forward, but on this night 10 years ago the Wolves bested their Western Conference foe despite 36 from Duncan.

Kevin Garnett, Sam Cassell, and Latrell Sprewell combined to take 61 of Minnesota's 77 shots, and Cassell would pace the Wolves with 33 points and nine assists.

The victory was the last in a five-game win streak, with Minnesota losing to Houston three days later.

It wouldn't take long for the Wolves to once again find the touch, as they rattled off another five-game streak after losing to the Rockets.

The Spurs would go on to lose to the Lakers in six games in the Western Conference semifinals, setting up a Wolves-Lakers battle for the right to go to the NBA Finals.
