20 years ago today: 'Winter Magic' halftime show doesn't rock Metrodome

When the Metrodome hosted the Super Bowl on Jan. 26,1992 -- the theme of the halftime show was "Winter Magic," a tribute to the Winter Olympics. It was a big production, but in years to follow rock mega-stars took over to make sure the audience didn't wander during intermission.

January 26, 1992. Super Bowl XXVI. Minneapolis, Minn. Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. Forget about the game. The Washington Redskins won it, 37-24 over the hapless Buffalo Bills. The real fun was taking in that super-awesome halftime show, featuring the talents of Dorothy Hamil, Brian Boitano and Gloria Estefan.

Suffice to say, it was the last halftime show that was anything less than boffo -- as Michael Jackson took the stage at Super Bowl XXVII. Here's what happened in Minneapolis on that Sunday so long ago. It's "Winter Magic" -- in two parts -- courtesy YouTube. Enjoy.
