3 Lakeville brothers will play hockey together at St. Cloud State next season

Lakeville North hockey standout Ryan Poehling announced on Wednesday that he will be jumping to the NCAA, play for the St. Cloud State Huskies this fall.

Poehling was the Huskies' top recruit this season and was drafted 1st overall in the 2015 USHL draft, at the young age of 16. He will also forego his senior season at Lakeville North as he plans to graduate early.

Ryan wont turn 18 until half way through the season for the Huskies, making him one of the youngest players in college hockey.

He'll play with older twin brothers

It'll be a family affair, too.

He's joining his two (twin) older brothers – Jack and Nick – who will also play hockey at St. Cloud State this season.

Better yet, all three are forwards (with Ryan listed as a center), meaning we theoretically could see a Poehling-Poehling-Poehling line.

It wouldn't be the first time.

The three brothers last played together for Lakeville North high school in the 2013-2014 season and all three skated on the same line.

They haven't played together since 2014, which is also when the three gave a verbal commitment to SCSU.

The Huskies have lost a number of impact players recently – four seniors (who put up a total of 494 career points) are graduating, and this week Patrick Russell signed with the Edmonton Oilers.

SCSU next season will be trying to make the NCAA tournament for the fifth straight year.
