This is insane, but not entirely surprising considering who scored the goals.

The New York Islanders pulled off one of those extremely rare comebacks Friday night against the Detroit Red Wings, and they did it with a bunch of Minnesota connections.

Trailing 5-2 with under seven minutes to play in the third period, the Islanders scored four times on a major penalty power play and eventually won in overtime 7-6. Here's how it went down.

The first Minnesota connection

Cal Clutterbuck, the former Wild bruiser drew a match penalty when Detroit's Tyler Bertuzzi slashed him hard. It game New York the key power play.

The second Minnesota connection

Brock Nelson, whose second goal of the game and first on the key power play, cut Detroit's lead to 5-3.

The third Minnesota connection

Former Edina hockey (and football) star Anders Lee, who buried a rebound for a goal to make it a 5-4 game.

The fourth Minnesota connection

Nick Leddy, the former Eden Prairie and Golden Gophers defenseman who ripped home the game-tying goal with 3:21 left in the third period.

New York added a fourth goal by Josh Bailey (not from Minnesota) to take a 6-5 lead, but Detroit tied the game to force overtime.

The fifth Minnesota connection

Nelson again, who scored the game-winning goal in overtime to give the Islanders a crazy 7-6 victory.
