The 3M Open golf tournament at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine will go ahead as planned this July, but without fans.
The organizers of the PGA Tour event confirmed the tournament will be held as scheduled on July 23-26. It follows the resumption this past week of the professional tour.
Minnesota currently has guidelines in place limiting large gatherings, and it's unlikely to be loosened to allow gatherings of the size that could be expected in Blaine by late July.
Per the Star Tribune, players expected for this year's event include world number 4 Brooks Koepka and number 5 Dustin Johnson.
"We had parallel plans in place allowing for a limited number of spectators on the grounds, but we understand the need to conduct this event in this fashion as we continue to recover from the pandemic,” said 3M Open Executive Tournament Director Hollis Cavner.
"We’re still very excited about the opportunity to showcase the 3M Open and its community impact to the world through the PGA TOUR’s media partners, including Golf Channel and CBS domestically."
Last year's inaugural tournament was won by Matthew Wolff.
