4 Minnesota stars are part of 'the best team you've never heard of'

They'll light the Olympic torch in Rio this week and with that the most dominating team in the summer games will be back on the court in search of a sixth consecutive gold medal.

CNN has a cool story up where it calls the U.S. women's Olympic basketball team "the best team you've never heard of."

Minnesotans might consider that stretch because we've gotten used to watching four Olympians – Maya Moore, Lindsay Whalen, Seimone Augustus and Sylvia Fowles – help the Minnesota Lynx torch the WNBA for three championships in five years.

But in general, WNBA players don't get the attention they deserve.

"I don't think it's an attack on the U.S. women's Olympic team, I think it's just a function of society," Nancy Lieberman, a women's basketball Hall of Fame-er, told CNN. "Is it fair? Of course not, because we do deserve a lot of that attention for what has been accomplished."

This year's Team USA is expected to pretty much exactly what it did at the London games in 2012: Crush the competition en route to a sixth straight gold medal. It would be the best streak of golds since the U.S. men's team won nine straight from 1936-1968.

Good Morning America had most of this year's team on the show recently where they got about five minutes of national attention.

Moore, Whalen, August, Fowles and the rest of the team begin play in Group B of the tournament against Senegal on Sunday. Follow the full schedule here.

For the record, the flight to Rio was filled with more stars than you can count with both the U.S. women's and men's Olympic basketball teams traveling together.
