There are seven classes of high school football in Minnesota and four of those classes have half of their Prep Bowl matchup set after state tournament semifinals kicked off on Thursday.
In Class 6A, Eden Prairie handed Blaine its first loss of the season, 34-14 to advance to the title game. The defending champion Eagles await the winner of Friday night's game between Lakeville North and Lakeville South.
In 4A, SMB (St. Paul Academy/Minnehaha Academy/Blake) rallied from down 15-10 to defeat Waseca 23-15 and advance to the Class 4A Prep Bowl. Jalen Suggs, a five-star recruit on the basketball court and heralded football recruit as a quarterback, passed for 160 yards and rushed for 77 yards in the win.
Caledonia is back in the championship game in Class 2A after pounding Paynesville 40-6. The Warriors have been the state's most dominant team over the last decade, winning eight championships since 2007.
And the defending 9-Man champ Spring Grove is back in the title game after rolling over Cromwell-Wright, 48-12. Spring Grove has won 27 consecutive games.
