Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams post identical 'Last Dance' pics as they seek Packers exit
With news breaking that the Green Bay Packers' star receiver Davante Adams wants to follow Aaron Rodgers out of the exit door, the pair posted signs of apparent solidarity on their Instagram pages Friday.
Both Rodgers and Adams posted the same picture from Netflix's The Last Dance, featuring a fist bump between Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen.
Here's the take of Bring Me The News' Vikings columnist Matthew Coller, of Purple Insider, on the development.
The posts were shared after reports emerged that long-term contract talks between the Packers and Adams had broken down, with NFL.com's Ian Rapoport saying there are "no current plans" to resume negotiations.
Rodgers has himself expressed no desire to return to the Packers for the upcoming season, and there are even suggestions that Rodgers will announce his retirement with no trade deal between the Packers and another NFL team appearing imminent.
On Friday it was reported by Pro Football Talk that the over-under totals for the Green Bay Packers have disappeared from DraftKings, PointsBet and Westgate SuperBook in possible anticipation that he will retire.
Last week, it was reported that Rodgers turned down a contract extension that would have made him the NFL's highest player.
Adams, on the other hand, was apparently offered a contract that his camp says did not acknowledge him as the highest-paid wide receiver, which is currently Arizona's DeAndre Hopkins, who is on $22 million.
The decision to share the same images is up for interpretation. It could signify a mutual dislike for Green Bay management much like Jordan and Pippen had in Chicago, or it could mean the pair have agreed to one "Last Dance" with the Packers in 2021/22.
Given the destruction the pair are capable of inflicting on opposing teams, Vikings fans will be hoping the differences between the Packers and their stars will prove irreconcilable.
