Barring everything going the wrong way for the Vikings it appears they will be headed into the NFC playoffs. However, it appears that Adrian Peterson is the only Vikings player heading to the Pro Bowl.

Pro Bowl selections were announced Tuesday night by the NFL. Peterson, who has returned from his nearly year-long suspension to lead the league in rushing through 14 games, will head to his seventh Pro Bowl.

Most Pro Bowls in Vikings history

  • 11 – Randall McDaniel, G 1989-99
  • 9 – Alan Page, DT 1968-76
  • 8 – Cris Carter, WR 1993-00
  • 7 – Adrian Peterson, RB 2007-10, 12-13, 15
  • 7 – Ron Yary, T 1971-77

Peterson has run for 1,314 yards and nine touchdowns on the season. He has also caught 28 passes for 206 yards. He has made a few memories in his previous six Pro Bowls.

He rushed for 129 yards on 16 carries and 2 touchdowns and holds the Pro Bowl record for career touchdowns with 4.

A few other Vikings were snubbed. Center Joe Berger has played well since replacing injured John Sullivan at center, but he wasn't named to the team. Neither was Cordarrelle Patterson, who has returned two kicks for touchdowns this season.

Injuries may have hurt chances for safety Harrison Smith, linebacker Anthony Barr and defensive tackle Linval Joseph. The trio has missed the last three Vikings games.

While many of Peterson's predecessors on the list represented the NFC, AP doesn't know whose team he will be on yet. Two teams will be drafted by Pro Bowl captains Jerry Rice and Michael Irvin on Jan. 27, 2016 – the game will take place four days later at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii.
