Twins' John Gordon calls it a career in walk-off fashion

John Gordon, 71, called his final game Wednesday night after 25 years as a Minnesota Twins radio announcer. While he didn't use his signature "Touch 'em all" home run call, he did go out calling a winner.

John Gordon is officially retired as play-by-play voice of the Minnesota Twins. Before his final game Wednesday night he was given a sidecar ride around Target Field on a Harley driven by fellow commentator, ex-Twin Dan Gladden.

Gordon then wrapped up his 25-year career with the Twins in style as his final call was a walk-off win that kept Minnesota from losing 100 games.

For the record, you can see his final call right here.

Some say it would have been perfect had the Twins ended the season with a walk-off homer so Gordon could end the broadcast with his signature "touch 'em all" call. But the Star Tribune's La Velle E. Neal III reveals that Gordon also has another call, one that he makes after the microphones have been turned off.

Gordon, 71, is already being called a beloved voice of the Midwest, and a man of class with his own distinctive style.

In a recent interview with FanGraphs writer David Laurila, Gordon said he's tried to be a friend to everyone -- and in part, that's how he wants to be remembered.
