After being dumped by Rangers, Jarrett Stoll claimed by Wild

After being placed on waivers by the New York Rangers, veteran center Jarrett Stoll has been claimed by the Minnesota Wild.

Stoll, 33, could have an immediate impact with the Wild in terms of adding a right-shot to the power play and providing experience on the penalty kill, according to Michael Russo of the Star Tribune.

In 13 seasons with the Oilers, Kings and Rangers, Stoll has tallied 141 goals and 382 points. He has just 1 goal and 2 assists in 29 games this season, but his scoring numbers could be lower than he's capable of because he was playing on New York's fourth line.

He's playoff tested, too, having won a pair of Stanley Cups with the Kings.

Stoll arrested

Stoll was arrested on felony cocaine possession last April in Las Vegas, but charges were dropped and he pleaded to a pair of misdemeanors. Sports Illustrated has more on his high-profile arrest.

Stoll's first game with the Wild will likely be Thursday night against the Rangers.

His departure from New York opens the door for former Gophers defenseman Brady Skjei.
