Alexandria Aces spin their way to Guinness World Record

It looks like the Alexandria Aces have broken a Guinness World Record.

The performance basketball team, composed of boys and girls ages 5-12, celebrated its 25th anniversary by attempting to break the Guinness World Record for most people spinning a basketball simultaneously for one minute.

The previous record was set at 104 people at an event organized by Cheshire Jets Basketball Club in the United Kingdom on July 26, 2009.

They unofficially set a the new Guinness World Record with 133 people spinning a basketball on their finger for one minute, the Echo Press reported.

There were a total of 181 participants on the court attempting to break the record, those who failed to spin it for the entire minute weren't counted toward the final tally, the newspaper notes.

The record won't be made official until Guinness gives it the stamp of approval, which can take 60 to 90 days.

The 25th anniversary event, which was held at Alexandria Area High School during the boys basketball game, also featured a performance by the Minnesota Timberwolves' dunk team:

The Alexandria Aces have performed their dribbling, juggling and spinning acts at halftime events during NBA and college basketball games.
