The Minnesota Twins dropped their eighth straight road game Thursday afternoon. The Los Angeles Angels beat the Twins 6-4 to complete the sweep of the three-game series.

The Twins didn't give themselves much of a chance, again having to dig out of an early 4-0 deficit.

Ricky Nolasco (4-6) started and took the loss. He gave up six runs on 11 hits in six innings of work.

The Angels wasted no time getting to Nolasco. Albert Pujols drove in Kole Calhoun, who led off the game with a base hit. Erick Aybar then doubled in Pujols and the Angels had the quick 2-0 lead.

Most of the damage was done by the top half of the Los Angeles order. Pujols led the way, he was 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. Calhoun and Mike Trout also had a pair of hits.

The Angels then added two more in the third, as Pujols connected on a double to right field.

That was more than enough run support for Jared Weaver. He moved to a perfect 7-0 on the mound against the Twins in Anaheim. Weaver left the game after seven innings. He held the Twins to one run on eight hits, while striking out six.

After Anaheim pushed the lead to 6-1, the Twins got something going late on the Angels bullpen though.

Joe Mauer sliced a bases-clearing double to left field to cut the Angels lead to 6-4. But Angels reliever Joe Smith struck out Kendrys Morales, who represented the tying run, to end the game.

It was the first series loss for the Twins in Anaheim in two years.

  • An MRI has revealed that Twins shortstop Danny Santana has a bone bruise in his left knee. According to the Pioneer Press, the MRI showed no abnormalities in his ligaments or meniscus.
