AP recalls his Washington nightmare

Adrian Peterson says he doesn't have revenge on his mind when he returns to FedEx Field Sunday. On Dec. 24, 2011, that's where the Vikings quarterback shredded his knee. Less than 10 months later, he's back -- with only one thing on his mind: Winning.

Adrian Peterson returns to Washington, D.C., Sunday, the scene of one of the worst days of his NFL career. On Dec. 24, 2011, Peterson tore his ACL and MCL in his left knee, a devastating injury that required surgery:

Today, Peterson joked that he would welcome the chance to run over DeJon Gomes, the Redskins safety who administered the hit that wrecked his knee.

“I'm going to make sure I have my shoulders low,"Peterson told reporters.

Peterson also said that he doesn't harbor any personal grudges against the Redskins or Gomes -- and that his revenge factor is minute.

Peterson, who is coming off a sore ankle in Sunday's win over Tennessee, says there's "no doubt" he'll start against the Redskins.
