Arcia's grand slam isn't enough as Correia, Twins blow lead

Jonathan Lucroy homered in the eighth inning to secure the victory for the Milwaukee Brewers, 8-5 Thursday night at Target Field. The win gave Milwaukee a split in the four-game home and home series.

The game started out with a bang for the Twins.

Oswaldo Arcia put the Twins on top in a big way with a grand slam, in the bottom of the third inning. Arcia was 2-3 with a home run and 4 RBIs. It was the second straight night he drove in four runs.

Unfortunately, Twins starter Kevin Correia was not able to hold it. He was tagged with the loss after giving up five runs on 10 hits in five-plus innings of work.

Wily Peralta pitched five innings and picked up the win for the Brewers. He gave up four runs in five innings, all of those runs came on Arcia's grand slam.

Carlos Gomez answered back with a three-run blast in the top of the fourth, and then in the Khris Davis hit a two-run homer in the top of the sixth as part of another three-run inning to claim a 6-4 lead.

Correia got hit pretty hard in the fourth and fifth innings, but Twins manager Ron Gardenhire sent him back out there for the sixth, and he gave up the lead on Davis' home run.

The Twins also missed a lot of opportunities. The Twins had runners in scoring position and no one out in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings, and failed to score all three times.

The sixth was the worst. Arcia doubled to the gap in left center, but he was picked off of second base after Trevor Plouffe squared around to bunt. To make matters worse, Arcia turned his ankle on the play, and then moments later Plouffe doubled to right center.

Arcia was replaced in right field by Chris Parmelee.

Milwaukee's win splits the series between the two teams. The Twins will start a three-game weekend series with the Houston Astros Friday night.
