Arms search: Garza to Brewers official; Santana, Twins to reunite?

Last week we openly argued with ourselves in a story about whether Matt Garza to the Brewers was actually a thing or not.

Now, after an exhaustive week that featured reports saying yes while others said no, and a statement from the Brewers saying a contract wasn't done, we have a deal.

Garza, who was linked to Minnesota as recently as the beginning of 2014, has inked a four-year, $52 million deal with Milwaukee, becoming the highest paid free agent in franchise history.

That means the Twins miss on a reunion with their one-time star prospect, but it also means we don't have to tweet things like this anymore.

As you can see, there are ups and downs of this signing for us.

Speaking of ups and downs, wow was it a great first 11 years years for Johan Santana.

The last three? He's missed two of them recovering from shoulder surgery, while he only started 21 games in 2012, the only year in which he was part of an active roster since 2010.

Despite recent history, Minnesota has had talks with Santana's representation and he "very much remains" on the team's radar, according to Twins general manager Terry Ryan at TwinsFest over the weekend.

Ryan added that Santana isn't ready to make a decision as he continues to rehab from his second shoulder surgery in three years, both for anterior capsule tears.

Johan won two Cy Young's with Minnesota during his eight years as a Twin.
