Creating a fair list of the 50 greatest black athletes of all time is no easy task. Michael Jordan is the obvious No. 1 for many, but the top 50 unveiled by The Undefeated is a list defined by where each athlete ranked in four categories: overall, dominance, impact on society, and inspiration.

The list was voted on by more than 10,000 people.

Jordan was No. 1 in the overall and dominance categories while Jackie Robinson finished No. 2 in the overall and No. 1 in societal influence and inspiration.

LeBron James is 38th in the overall because he scored lower in societal impact and inspiration. Based on dominance alone he is No. 8 on the list.

The only player in the top 50 with ties to Minnesota is Larry Fitzgerald, who came in at No. 42 in the overall. Fitzgerald attended high school at The Academy of Holy Angels in the Twin Cities.
