Bad news for Case Keenum, plus a Vikings scheduling rumor for 2019

Will the Vikings face the Eagles on Thanksgiving night?

Case Keenum's career suffered a setback with the news that the Baltimore Ravens are close to trading quarterback Joe Flacco to the Denver Broncos, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

What happens to Keenum if the Broncos tab Flacco as their starting quarterback in 2019?

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Broncos will look to trade Keenum. If they can't find a trade partner to take on the remainder of Keenum's two-year, $36 million contract, then they could ask him to take a huge salary cut or simply release him.

One possibility being floated is Keenum being traded to the New York Giants, where he could reunite with head coach Pat Shurmur.

Keenum's best NFL season came in 2017 when he went 11-3 as the starter while Shurmur was his offensive coordinator.

Vikings to play on Thanksgiving next season?

The NFL schedule is still a long way from being released, but Sports Business Journal's John Ourand, talking on a Sports Illustrated Media Podcast, says it's "pretty likely" that the Vikings and Eagles meet in the Thanksgiving nightcap.

“I didn’t actually write about this but I have heard that Minnesota-Philadelphia is one that’s in play,” Ourand said, noting that the Eagles could play the Cowboys, who always play on Thanksgiving, the following Thursday night.

“It’s not dead set, but I’m told that it’s pretty likely," Ourand added.

You can listen to his minute-long speculation starting at the 32-minute mark.

If the Vikings and Eagles do meet on Thanksgiving, it would be played at U.S. Bank Stadium. Philadelphia is among the teams Minnesota will host next season
