The right-hander also said he did everything he could to try and pitch through his elbows problems, but it "just wasn't going to happen."

In a surprise move, Scott Baker underwent Tommy John surgery on Tuesday. He was supposed to have a different operation to repair a tendon in his right arm, but Dr. David Altcheck saw that Baker needed the more serious operation. Tommy John surgery usually keeps pitchers out 12-18 months.
