The Minnesota Twins took the rubber game of their three-game series with the Detroit Tigers Sunday. The Twins beat the Tigers 7-1 at Comerica Park.

The game included another solid start from Ervin Santana and a big day at the plate for highly-touted Twins prospect Byron Buxton.

Santana (7-4) went seven innings holding the Tigers to one run on six hits, while striking out five. Michael Tonkin tossed the final two innings of relief for Minnesota.

The Twins did most of their damage in a six-run second inning, highlighted by an RBI double by Buxton and a two-run double from Brian Dozier.

Buxton had a big game for the Twins. He was 2-for-4 with the double, his first major league home run and a pair of runs scored.

Dozier was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored as well.

The victory kept the Twins (80-75) in sight of the second American League wild card spot with seven games to go.

The Twins will send Phil Hughes to the mound against Corey Kluber Monday night to open their critical four game series with the Indians.
