Bjugstad to play for U.S. at World Championships

Former Golden Gopher forward Nick Bjugstad will suit up for the U.S. team at the World Championship's next month.

Bjugstad, who recently decided to forego his senior season to sign a professional contract with the Florida Panthers, is one of four Minnesotans playing in the tournament.

North Dakota's and Eden Prairie's Danny Kristo will also play for the U.S.

The World Championships run May 3-19 in Helsinki and Stockholm.

Gophers' forward Nick Bjugstad says his undisclosed injury isn't serious and he expects to play for Team USA at the World Junior Championships. Bjugstad sustained an injury December 10th at Michigan Tech. He says he is day-to-day but will play in the third exhibition game Friday and "definitely be ready" for the opening game of the World Junior Championships December 26.
