Scott Baker is scheduled to start the Twins' home opener against Albert Pujols and the Angels on April 9th, but a case of elbow tendinitis may prevent that from happening. Baker is scheduled to throw bullpen sessions Saturday and Monday, but there is a chance he doesn't join the Twins' rotation until the second week of the season.

Scott Baker pitched two hitless innings as the Twins beats the Rays, 3-2 in spring training action Tuesday. Baker finished last season with a 3.14 ERA, but his season was cut short because of an elbow injury. He says "there’s peace in the fact I’m doing everything I can to stay healthy.”

Baker misses start with sore elbow

Scott Baker missed the majority of the final two months last season because of elbow problems, and he missed his scheduled start Thursday because of another sore elbow. Twins GM Terry Ryan says this is a "standard thing that happens to him every spring." Baker is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Saturday.

Twins look to Blackburn in home opener

The Twins look to Nick Blackburn to stop a rough start to the season. Minnesota plays the Angels today at Target Field, and it will be Blackburn's first start in a home opener.
