Blues fire Ken Hitchcock, hand head coaching job to Mike Yeo
The St. Louis Blues have fired head coach Ken Hitchcock and replaced him with Mike Yeo.
Yeo went 173-132-44 with three trips to the playoffs during his five years as Wild head coach. He was fired last season and the result has been very good for the Wild, who are the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference under coach Bruce Boudreau.
Yeo was the coach in waiting in St. Louis with Hitchcock planning to step down at the end of the season.
If the playoffs started today, the Wild would host St. Louis in the first round of the playoffs.
The Wild play Yeo's Blues March 7.
