The University of Minnesota men's hockey team announced that redshirt junior Zach Budish will wearing the captain's 'C' on his sweater for the upcoming season. Nick Bjugstad and Seth Helgesen will were the 'A' as alternate captains.

The hockey Gophers are back on the ice Friday night in the Mariucci Classic. After a 20-day layoff, they play Niagra to open the weekend tournament -- which also features Northeastern and Princeton. Golden Gophers' forward Nick Bjugstad may not play for Team USA in the upcoming World Junior Championships. Bjugstad injured his shoulder December 10th in Minnesota's win over Michigan Tech. He's been wearing a yellow, no-contact jersey during practice. Team USA head coach Dean Blais says Bjugstad won't play unless he's 100-percent healthy.
